About Moms Like Me

Moms Like Me is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting mothers of adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)—including conditions such as Down syndrome and autism spectrum disorder—whose needs extend far beyond childhood and require lifelong care, guidance, and advocacy. These individuals often face limitations in learning, reasoning, and adaptive daily living skills, with support needs ranging from mild to profound. As their children transition into adulthood, mothers are met with complex, high-stakes decisions related to housing, guardianship, healthcare, financial support, and long-term care planning—often without clear direction or accessible resources.

Moms Like Me exists to fill that gap. We provide trusted guidance, education, and practical tools to help mothers navigate adult services, secure benefits, evaluate residential options, and explore emerging assistive technologies that enhance independence and safety. Equally important, we support mothers who have spent decades as primary caregivers and are now facing the reality of aging—helping them develop thoughtful, sustainable plans that ensure their children continue to receive the same level of care, dignity, and support in the future.
